Dad's Dictionary: STANDING ON HIS EAR

Standing on his ear = Waiting impatiently. Used in a sentence, "We told Mom we'd be there at 3:30. By now she's probably standing on her ear." Or, "If we're not back within the hour Mike will be standing on his ear."
